Air Protocol enables users to make p2p exchanges of on-chain for off-chain assets. It’s form by a mesh of nodes that can be accessed by an edge client or the new API.

Key definitions:

User Types:

  • Buyer: Whichever party is providing crypto
  • Seller: Whichever party that provides off-chain assets
  • Maker: The individual that places a proposal out onto the mesh for consideration
  • Taker: The individual that accepts a proposal from a maker

P2P: A peer-to-peer service is a decentralized platform whereby two individuals interact directly with each other, without intermediation by a third party.

On-chain: On-chain transactions refer to those cryptocurrency transactions which occur on the blockchain – that is, on the records of the blockchain – and remain dependent on the state of the blockchain for their validity. 

Off-chain: Off-chain transactions refer to those in which no blockchain is used, example of this are bank transactions, PayPal payment, or even giving a sofa.
